125 Years in the Making

As UTC looks ahead to its exciting future, plans are underway to honor its rich past with a 125th anniversary celebration. Founded in 1886, UTC has experienced a perpetual evolution, moving from private to public and even changing names several times. But one constant has been its strong ties to the Scenic City. Now more than ever, the school seeks to strengthen this relationship.

“UTC is Chattanooga’s university, and we want the entire community to celebrate this important anniversary,” says Dr. Carolyn Thompson, wife of Chancellor Roger Brown and anniversary co-chair. “We hope they will be a part of the festivities and share our optimism for the future of UTC.”

Beginning in January, the school will celebrate by making all regularly scheduled campus activities—such as its lecture series and homecoming—bigger, better and branded, with a new logo recently announced. All of these festivities will culminate in a Founder’s Day Celebration on September 15, 2011, that you can’t afford to miss.
